    John Brooks made himself a hero in the closing moments to win the game for USA against Ghana on Monday evening.

    The Americans who got off to the perfect start when they opening the scoring through former Fulham midfielder Clint Dempsey, who burst past two defenders and fired into the net.

    Jozy Altidore then came close but saw his effort blocked by Boye, before he was taken off by boss Jurgen Klinsmann, after picking up what looked to be a hamstring problem.

    Ghana did get themselves into the game and Christian Atsu came close, sending a curling effort just over the crossbar.

    After the interval, former Portsmouth man Sulley Muntari came close but his rasping shot whistled past the post.

    The African side did find and equaliser through Andre Ayew, who was found by Asamoah Gyan and he struck past a helpless Tim Howard.

    But, USA battled back and Brooks was on hand to head in to seal a famous three points for his country.
