Atletico Madrid offer Brazilian defender to Man United

Atletico Madrid are prepared to sell Brazilian defender Miranda and have spoken to Manchester United about a possible move, according to Marca.

The English club have been long term admirers of the Brazilian centre-back but failed last summer to agree a transfer fee with the Spanish champions as they resisted a sale due to the impressive partnership of him and Uruguayan Diego Godin.

Miranda will see his contract expire in 2016; a contract which includes a buy-out clause of £24m, but reports in Spanish and English press have claimed that Atletico officials would sell the defender for less, rather than allow him leave for free next year.

United are leaders with interest and it is understood by Madrid daily Marca that both clubs have made contact over a possible cut-price deal in June.

The 30-year-old defender has lost his place this season in the starting eleven and is said to be keen to leave Vicente Calderon.
