Liverpool battle Everton for Portuguese midfielder

Merseyside rivals Liverpool and Everton are battling it out over a potential summer move for Braga midfielder Rafa Silva.

The 21-year-old midfielder has been in superb form this season and has attracted a number of top European clubs, whilst he has also broke into the Portuguese national side, making his debut against Cameroon last year, before being named in the 23-man squad for the World Cup last summer.

Liverpool and Everton are showing keen interest and newspaper O Jogo claim that both have sounded out a £7.5m summer move.

Reports have claimed that Silva has a £19m buyout clause written into his contract, but the club are yet to confirm if that is correct.

Silva has scored two and assisted three goals in his 20 appearances this season.
