Andres Iniesta was left delighted after Barcelona’s 3-1 win over Villarreal in the Copa del Rey, a victory that made it 10 wins out of 10 games in all competitions.
The Catalan side went through a tough winter period having lost to Real Sociedad on La Liga’s return to action, but boss Luis Enrique has since inspired them to a run of 10 straight wins in all competitions, reducing the gap in the league to just one point between them and leaders Real Madrid.
Iniesta, who scored in the Wednesday night semi-final first-leg win over Villarreal has discussed his side’s recent form and said that he never doubted their ability to produce good performances once again.
“I’ve always been confident about the team’s performances,” Iniesta told the official Barcelona website.
“It’s true that at the moment the team’s playing well and when that happens you have to make the most of it and try to improve.
“We made a big effort; it was a shame about conceding a goal. The most important thing is that we’re 90 minutes away from the final. We’ll have to go to Villarreal and put in a complete performance and be switched on in every sense.
“We know we could have scored more goals, but the chances have to be taken. The result is what it is and we aren’t unhappy. The goal was to win and get a good result.
“El Madrigal is a stadium that’s demanding. It’s a small ground. There’s almost a month before the second leg and we have to be happy about the goals.”
