Man United still confident in signing £50m Dortmund winger

Manchester United are still on course to sign Marco Reus, despite the winger signing a new and improved deal with Borussia Dortmund.

The German international put to bed links with a number of top European clubs over the weekend after agreeing a new contract with the Bundesliga club which extended his stay at Signal Iduna Park until 2019.

However, despite the news of a new deal, Premier League side Man United have not given up hope in signing the talented forward.

Reus did hold a buyout clause in his old contract at Dortmund which could have seen him leave the club for a fee of £20m, however, that has now been removed.

But, United are happy to spend up to £50m for the winger, according to various reports in English and German media on Thursday morning.

Louis van Gaal seems desperate to land the German and improve his attacking options for next season.
