Sacked Lambert to receive £10m Villa pay-off

Aston Villa will reportedly have to hand Paul Lambert a £10m compensation package after sacking him on Wednesday evening, according to Daily Mirror.

The Scottish boss lost his job at Villa Park on Wednesday after another Premier League defeat on Tuesday to Hull City.

The former Norwich City boss took over at Villa in 2012 and had signed a four year deal, but a string of poor results and a lack of goals with the Midlands club this season, ensured his dismissal by owner Randy Lerner.

However, according to reports, Lambert’s latest contract with Villa, did not include a compensation package but that the club will have to pay the remainder of his contract in full.

Villa are already being linked with a new boss, with the likes of Tim Sherwood, Michael Laudrup and others being mentioned.
