Football Express News understands that Barcelona have not yet given up hope of signing Sergio Aguero from Manchester City.

The Argentine striker scored 28 goals in 34 games for City last season but again struggled with injuries, however, that has not stopped interest from a number of big spending European clubs and one of those – Barcelona, are ready to push City again for his signature.

The former Atletico Madrid striker has been strongly linked with a move back to Spain in recent times as reported that his friends and family still live in the Spanish capital.

Plus reports that international team-mates and close friends Javier Mascherano and Lionel Messi were tempting him to join Barca have seen his future strongly debated.

Aguero himself has commented on his future, telling reporters that he would be staying with City despite reports, but Barca believe they can tempt the 26-year-old into a move.

The Catalan club are currently undergoing a re-shuffle of their current squad and have already signed Ivan Rakitic, Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Claudio Bravo and Alen Halilovic.

And, it is understood that new boss Luis Enrique wants to add someone like Aguero as a marquee summer signing.
