Manager-less QPR beat Sunderland

Goals from Leroy Fer and Bobby Zamora saw manager-less Queens Park Rangers beat Sunderland at the Stadium of Light 2-0 on Tuesday evening.

Manager-less QPR started the game well and put the home side under pressure right from the off as both Niko Kranjcar and Bobby Zamora combined well to create a good chance for the latter, who sent his header just wide.

The visitors continued to dominate and they tested the resolve of Costel Pantilimon through Leroy Fer, who saw his 25-yard effort sting the palms of the former Manchester City keeper.

Gus Poyet’s side came close moments later but Patrick van Aanholt’s volley went over the crossbar.

QPR did open the scoring through Fer as Matthew Phillips found the Dutch international with a superb cross and they extended their lead just before half-time as Zamora was on hand to find the back of the net.

The second half was a less exciting affair compared to the first period as Poyet’s side could do little to get themselves back into the game.

Rob Green was tested by Jermain Defoe late on but the former Toronto striker was unable to beat the keeper and the score remained the same until the final whistle.
