Barcelona sign Chilean keeper Bravo

Barcelona have completed the signing of of Chilean keeper Claudio Bravo, according to Catalan daily Mundo Deportivo.

The Catalan club have reacted quickly to the decisions of Victor Valdes and Jose Pinto, who both called time on their careers at the Camp Nou, by completed the signing of German Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Claudio Bravo.

The deal for Bravo, which is in the region of £12m is set to be announced on Thursday or Friday, just days after the Chilean keeper played an important part in his country’s win over Spain, which knocked the World champions out of the World Cup.

Bravo, who has spent the last eight years with Basque side Real Sociedad has been in superb form for the past couple of seasons and he will now move to the Camp Nou and provide competition with Ter Stegen for the number one jersey.

Barcelona had planned to offer midfielder Jonathan dos Santos as part of the deal but the Mexican refused to join Sociedad on loan, prompting Barca to pay a larger fee.

Meanwhile, midfielder Xavi Hernandez looks to have called time on his career at the club after agreeing terms with Qatari club Al Arabi, in a deal which will see him earn £6m per year.
