Arsenal & Chelsea pull out of signing crocked German midfielder

Arsenal and Chelsea have officially pulled out of the race to sign Sami Khedira after a latest injury set back for the Real Madrid midfielder.

The German midfielder, 27, is out of contract at the end of the season and has been strongly linked with a move to the Premier League after interest was shown by Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United.

Madrid had been offering his services in a cut-price deal over the January transfer window to the aforementioned but no side seemed keen after large wage demands.

However, reports last week claimed that Bayern Munich had agreed pre-contract with the Germany international.

Should that be true or not, Chelsea and Arsenal have now pulled out of any such move after Khedira was ruled out for three weeks with a hamstring injury.

Khedira has played just 303 minutes for Madrid this season after a total of five different injury problems.
