Chelsea keen on signing Argentine World Cup hero

Football Express News understands that Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has identified Sergio Romero as a potential summer signing.

Sampdoria stopper Romero will see his current contract with the Italian club expire in June and is on the look out for a new club after citing his desire to join a bigger club.

Having performed highly in the World Cup for Argentine last summer in which he was famed for saving penalties from Ron Vlaar and Wesley Sneijder to beat Netherlands; the keeper has plenty of suitors.

And, it is understood that Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is one of those and could make a move to see him replace Petr Cech as back-up to Thibaut Courtois.

Cech is expected to leave Stamford Bridge this coming summer after failing to break past the Belgian stopper, leaving Mourinho without a second choice stopper.

Romero has featured just 10 times for Sampdoria and conceded on 12 occasions.
