Xavi signs mega deal with Qatari club Al Arabi

Xavi Hernandez has agreed a lucrative deal to sign with Qatari side Al Arabi and end his career with Barcelona.

Romanian coach Dan Petrescu, who has been in charge of the Qatari club since he left Dynamo Moscow at the end of the season has confirmed that Xavi will be come an Al Arabi player next season, agreeing in principle a deal that will see the Spanish midfielder earn £6m per season.

Xavi has just completed his 16th season with the Catalan club, in which he appeared a remarkable 723 times, helping them win the Champions League on three occasions as well as countless domestic titles.

Whilst, rumours spread about his future, the 34-year-old is understood to have received offers from the likes of Manchester United, Paris Saint Germain and a number of Major League Soccer teams.

Xavi will follow the likes of Victor Valdes and Carles Puyol, who also ended their time with Barcelona, although the latter has recently taken over as assistant sporting director.

The Spanish World Cup winner told reporters during the press conference of Puyol’s departure towards the end of the season that he would be interested in becoming manager of the La Liga giants in the future.
