Mendes denies De Gea talks with Real Madrid

David de Gea’s agent has denied that the keeper could be set to agree a deal with Real Madrid and revealed that he is in talks with Manchester United over a new deal.

The former Atletico Madrid keeper has been in superb form this season for United and has forced his way into the Spanish national side, making himself the number one choice to replace Iker Casillas, who is expected to call time on his international career soon.

Casillas is expected to leave Madrid in the summer too, with a move to Major League Soccer tipped, leaving Madrid officials to chase De Gea in recent weeks.

Whilst a move to Madrid was reported last week, his agent, Jorge Mendes, has countered those comments and claimed that the Spanish international is in talks over a new deal.

Speaking on Spanish radio station Cadena Ser on Sunday evening, he said. “It’s not true that the deal is done.

“I am negotiating his contract renewal but we haven’t signing anything yet. As of the moment, we will see what happens.

“We’re holding talks and at this moment it seems he could continue with United, but as I say, we haven’t signed anything yet.”
