Man United boss Van Gaal rejected Fabregas signing

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal turned down the chance to sign Cesc Fabregas when he arrived at Old Trafford last summer, according to Daily Telegraph.

Former United boss David Moyes had eyed the former Barcelona midfielder for some time during his time at Old Trafford and had put plans in place to sign both the Spanish midfielder and German World Cup winner Toni Kroos.

Kroos later went on to join Real Madrid, whilst Fabregas did the unthinkable and linked up with Jose Mourinho at Stamford Bridge.

New United boss Van Gaal turned down the chance to sign both in an astonishing move; a revelation which may come as a shock to fans of the club.

Instead, the Dutch boss signed Ander Herrera, who has since failed to produce the same performances he once did for Athletic Bilbao.
