Mendes tips De Gea to remain with Man United

David De Gea’s agent, Jorge Mendes, has said that the Spanish keeper is unlikely to leave Manchester United in the summer.

The former Atletico Madrid keeper has been long linked with a move to Real Madrid as they seek to replace Iker Casillas, who is expected to leave this summer for a stint in the MLS.

Talk of such a move continues to develop with United bosses becoming concerned after negotiations stalled over a new deal at Old Trafford.

The free signing of Victor Valdes further casted doubt on De Gea’s future in England, but his agent, Jorge Mendes believes that his future is with United.

“He has one year left on his contract and I think that he will stay in Manchester,” he told BBC Sport.

“The player will decide, but he’s happy there, at the moment.”

The super-agent also added a comment on the future of Radamel Falcao, saying that he has plenty of suitors outside of Manchester should the club not make his move a permanent one.

“If he will not stay in Manchester, he will play for sure in one of the biggest teams in Europe,” he said.
