West Ham miss out on EIGHT January signings

West Ham United missed out on eight deadline day signings, according to the London Evening Standard.

An injury to striker Andy Carroll and the uncertain future of defender Winston Reid caused Hammers boss Sam Allardyce cause for concern on deadline day, but having attempted to bring in eight players, the former Newcastle United manager failed to do so.

As reported by the Standard, the London side wanted to lure Tottenham Hotspur duo Emmanuel Adebayor and Younes Kaboul, but both turned down the move.

Further moves of Marseille defender Doria and Genk’s Kara Mbodj also failed to materialize, whilst Sylvain Distin’s potential arrival never got off the ground.

The moves are unlikely to concern Allardyce to much after he made several negative comments about the winter transfer window following the game with Liverpool at the weekend.

Co-owner David Gold took to Twitter late on Monday evening to apologize to fans for making no new signings.
