Mendes: Ronaldo loves Man United but would cost £1bn

Cristiano Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes has slapped a massive £1 billion asking price on his clients head, before commenting on his love for former club Manchester United.

The Portuguese international was named Ballon d’Or winner for the third time in his career in January and has been in superb form for Madrid this season, netting an incredible 36 goals in 31 games.

Mendes has discussed the possibility of Ronaldo leave the Santiago Bernabeu, claiming that several clubs would be willing to pay around £300m for the forward, but the much talked about agent believes the former Sporting Lisbon man will not leave the Spanish giants.

“He’s the most expensive player ever in the world, because Ronaldo is the best player ever in the world, the best sportsman ever,” Mendes told BBC Radio 4. “You can’t compare him to anyone.

“Cristano Ronaldo? £1 billion. His buyout clause is £1 billion, so it is £1 billion. It is impossible to buy someone like him.

“If for any reason the club decide to sell him tomorrow for £300m, someone will pay.

“He loves the Man United supporters, he told me, he started there, but he will not leave Real Madrid.”

Ronaldo has a contract with Real Madrid until June 2018.
