Redknapp chasing Wolves’ Bakary Sako

Queens Park Rangers are ready to make a bid in the region of £3m for Wolves forward Bakary Sako, according to The Express.

With Rangers midfielder Jordon Mutch completing his £4.5m move to Crystal Palace this week manager Harry Redknapp has the funds to bring some new faces in. “We let Jordon Mutch go so we could bring one or two new faces in, so we needed to bring some money in,” said Redknapp, who is famous for his efforts on transfer deadline day.

Rangers officials have already met with their counterparts at Wolves and a formal inquiry has been made for the French born, Mali international. “We have made an inquiry about the player. Our Head of Football Operations Les Ferdinand has spoken to their people.

“We are looking for players up front. The chairman Tony Fernandes and Les are working away at that side, of things but it is not easy. If we can find deals we will do them, but we need to get them over the line.”

Sako has made 106 appearances in his time at Wolves, scoring 30 goals in all competions. He has featured for both Mali and France at youth level and has represented Mali on 11 occasions, bagging 4 goals.

As well as bringing in the 26-year-old, another Rangers play could be leaving Loftus Road, with Borussia Moenchengladbach of the Bundisliga showing interest in Junior Hoilett. However Redknapp stated he would only sell if he had the right replacement lined up, “We cannot let people go without getting replacements in.”

Rangers will look to put an end to their run of no win in 6 games home and away, and no win in 10 on the road, this weekend as they travel to Stoke.
