FIFA halt Man United striker’s move to Lazio

Lazio’s hopes of signing Javier Hernandez on a loan deal have been ruled out after FIFA rules state that a player only play for two different clubs in a season.

The Mexican striker was sent out on loan to Madrid last summer but has failed to break into the first team under Carlo Ancelotti, being restricted to a small amount of minutes, behind the likes of Karim Benzema, Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale.

The 26-year-old appeared twice for Louis Van Gaal before joined Madrid and that has halted any such move to Lazio in the January transfer window, with rules stating he can only play for two clubs in one full season.

Hernandez will return to United in the summer but he is expected to be made available for a permanent transfer by Van Gaal.

The likes of Atletico Madrid, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Lazio are all likely to show future interest.
