Allardyce not concerned by Sakho troubles

Sam Allardyce is not expecting striker Diafra Sakho to be banned for playing for West Ham after returning home early from the Africa Cup of Nations with Senegal.

The in-form attacker missed his country’s game with Equatorial Guinea after claiming he had a back problem but returning to London to play in the Hammers win over Bristol City in the FA Cup, in which he scored.

FIFA have since confirmed that the Senegalese Football Federation have made a complaint and that the matter is currently being investigated.

West Ham co-owner David Sullivan said earlier this week that he did not think any punishment would be received, and Allardyce has followed suit, saying the club have followed all the rules.

“I’m not worried that Sakho will face a ban whatsoever,” he said ahead of the Premier League trip to Liverpool on Saturday.

“We have stuck by every rule and regulation in the book.”
