DONE DEAL: Chelsea sell German winger for £22.5m

Wolfsburg and Chelsea have agreed a €30 million (£22.5m) fee for Andre Schurrle, according to Kicker.

Schurrle arrived at Stamford Bridge in 2013, just months before Mourinho returned to the club following spells with Inter Milan and Real Madrid.

The attacking midfielder failed to break into the starting eleven under the Portuguese coach and had long been seen as a profitable player to sell, given that he was part of Joachim Low’s Germany side that were victorious in Brazil last summer.

And, after weeks of negotiations between Bundesliga side Wolfsburg and the Premier League leaders; a £22.5m deal has now been agreed.

The Bundesliga side had previously had a bid of £20.2m rejected but Chelsea’s signing of Juan Cuadrado from Fiorentina forced the German’s to bid an extra £2.3m.

The winger is now set to undergo a medical in the coming days.
