Manchester United move closer to signing £37m Borussia Dortmund defender

Manchester United look to be moving closer to a deal to sign Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels, with the Red Devils set to submit a £37 million bid, according to Metro.

The 26-year-old centre-back has been a long-term target for the Manchester club, and Louis Van Gaal is finally preparing a £37 million bid for the defender.

Hummels has been at Borussia Dortmund since 2009 and has proven to become one of the best defenders in the world, with a series of consistent, strong performances from the heart of defence.

The defender will certainly help out with Manchester United’s defensive issues and could help cement the Red Devils in the top four of the Barclays Premier League.

Whether this deal will materialise in January or the summer is uncertain as of yet, but either way the Premier League club will be acquiring one of the world’s best.

Louis Van Gaal’s side currently sit in fourth position in the Barclays Premier League, having amassed 40 points from 22 league games.
