Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets is set for talks over a new contract at Camp Nou.
The Spanish midfielder has been in typically brilliant form for the Catalan side this season but has attracted the interest of a number of Premier League sides, notably that of Manchester City.
Manuel Pellegrini’s side were said to be keen on making a lucrative summer bid for the defensive midfielder, but contract talks between the midfielder and Barca are now said to be an ‘almost complete’ stage.
Busquets has a current deal due to expire in 2018 which features an ‘extra year’ clause but Barca officials are keen to hand the unheralded star a pay-rise.
The 26-year-old made his debut for Barca in 2008 and has since gone on to make 308 appearances.
He has also been capped by the Spanish national side on 74 occasions.
