Man United target injured in Serie A clash

Roma boss Rudi Garcia insists that he is not worried about the injury sustained to Manchester United target Kevin Strootman.

The Duthch international has only made six appearances in Serie A this season after a long-term injury and his substitution against Fiorentina on Sunday, has further cast doubt on his playing time in the coming weeks.

Garcia, who is keen to keep hold of the Dutchman, insists that he is not worried by the problems picked up by Strootman.

“The doctor has seen it and it seems that it isn’t a serious injury,” he told reporters. “But with a knee we must always be careful.

“Let’s see what happens in the next few hours, he has already suffered so much with knee injuries.”

Roma came from behind to draw with Fiorentina and Garcia has discussed how delighted he is with his team’s performance and workrate.

“The reaction was important,” he added. “We had an excellent second half, but we could have been better in the first. Unfortunately, we came up against a Fiorentina side who had great qualities.

“We were forced back, but we expected the opposite. We wanted to win, it was not desire that we were missing.

“We drew thanks to Ljajic scoring from a great assist from Iturbe, who proved today that he is a very talented player.”
