Mourinho unsure Chelsea will sell World Cup winner

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is unsure that the club will sell German World Cup winner Andre Schurrle before the January transfer window closes.

Schurrle arrived at Stamford Bridge in 2013, just months before Mourinho returned to the club following spells with Inter Milan and Real Madrid.

The attacking midfielder has failed to break into the starting eleven under the Portuguese coach and is seen as a profitable player to sell, given that he was part of Joachim Low’s Germany side that were victorious in Brazil last summer.

Meanwhile, Mohamed Salah arrived last January but has failed to impress and the Egyptian international is now on the verge of an exit after making just one substitute appearance this season.

Whilst, Salah is set to be loaned to Italian side Roma, Schurrle is yet to receive a formal offer and Mourinho is now unsure that a deal will be completed.

“I don’t know if a deal is to happen,” said Mourinho on Friday. “If my club tells me we have a certain offer for a certain player we think is a good movement for us, because we work in the rules of Financial Fair Play sometimes we have needs, like we had in the past transfer windows where we sold some players.

“The question is to have a phenomenal offer and a player to be super keen of accept a new challenge in his career. We don’t want to sell our players. If one player moves, then we will bring somebody in, internationals.”
