Man United to sign Falcao and swap him with Cavani

Manchester United will sign Radamel Falcao for £44m but then swap him for Paris Saint Germain forward Edinson Cavani, according to L’Equipe.

The Colombian striker’s future at Old Trafford is very much in debate after failing to live up to the heavy heights of his Atletico Madrid career, in which he steered the Spaniards to a Europa League success.

Injury and limited playing time under boss Louis van Gaal has seen Falcao struggle and whilst a permanent move is still being debated amongst fans, French media L’Equipe claim that a deal is close.

However, the former Porto man is unlikely to remain at United with a swap deal for PSG striker Edinson Cavani now being reported.

United are unwilling to pay the full amount for Cavani and therefore see it easier to sign Falcao and then use him as bait.

Interest in the Uruguayan striker is likely to spur Real Madrid on, however, who have indicated the former Napoli man as a perfect replacement for Karim Benzema, who is likely to join Liverpool this summer.
