Kevin Miralles missed a first half penalty as Everton were held by West Bromwich Albion 0-0 at Goodison Park.

The home side made a good start to the game with both Miralles and full-back Leighton Baines testing the palms of Baggies keeper Ben Foster.

Belgian winger Miralles continued to his superb form by testing his luck from a free-kick midway through the first half but Foster proved too strong.

Moments later and the tricky winger had the perfect chance to put the home side in front but he sent his penalty wide of the post after Joleon Lescott handled in the area.

The second half saw much of the same with very little goal-mouth action.

Muhamed Besic saw an effort deflect inches wide halfway through the second period, whilst Romelu Lukaku came close but Tony Pulis’s side held on for a good away point.
