Serie A side Sampdoria hope to complete the signing of Everton striker Samuel Eto’o on Tuesday.

The former Barcelona and Inter Milan striker has been in good form for Everton this season but it has now emerged that he will end his two-year deal with the Merseyside club for a switch back to Italian football.

Eto’o has featured 20 times for Roberto Martinez’s side this season, scoring four goals but despite being happy at the club; he is keen to join Sinisa Mihajlovic’s fourth place Serie A side.

“Eto’o should be here in Genoa on Tuesday,” Sampdoria sporting director Carlo Osti told Italian broadcaster Telenord.

Mihajlovic’s side are chasing a Champions League spot, behind third-placed Napoli on goal difference.
