Man United and Arsenal bids rejected for Otamendi

La Liga giants Valencia have rejected a £26.7m bid for defender Nicolas Otamendi from Manchester United and Arsenal.

The Argentine defender has been in superb form this season, particularly impressing against Barcelona and Real Madrid, helping his side beat the latter this year.

Having joined the club last summer from Porto in a £10m deal, the central defender now has a £38.2m buyout clause on his shoulders.

Former Manchester United boss David Moyes was a keen admirer of the Argentine last season, whilst new boss Louis van Gaal has further followed up that interest.

Otamendi’s ownership is understood to involve the Doyen Sports Group, who had a big part to play in Marcos Rojo’s move to Man United last summer.
