Destro’s agent arrives in London for Arsenal talks

Arsenal have opened talks with Roma striker Mattia Destro over a January move.

The former Genoa striker has found playing time hard to come by this season, having made just eight starts and seven substitution appearances, in which he has found the back of the net five times.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has been a keen admirer of the young Italian and has now made his interest concrete after Roma seemed keen to sell.

Destro’s proposed move to the Emirates stadium will fill the void left by Yaya Sanogo, who joined Crystal Palace and Lukas Podolski, who joined Inter Milan; both on loan deals.

Representatives from agency PROMOSPORT S.R.L. have jetted in to London to discuss a move, with Destro currently valued at £14.5m by website Transfermarkt.

Destro has made eight appearances for the Italian national side, scoring once.
