Rakitic: We are all united at Barcelona

Ivan Rakitic has discussed the unity in the Barcelona dressing room, following their impressive 4-0 win over Deportivo La Coruna on Sunday evening.

Luis Enrique’s side have been under heavy criticism from Spanish and Catalan media in recent weeks, with attacks on the Barca boss, Lionel Messi and the club’s hierarchy, thus leading to a summer election.

However, Croatian Rakitic has hailed the club’s unity after they beat Deportivo 4-0 on Sunday evening to put pressure on league leaders Real Madrid.

“We are all united like one big family,” Rakitic was quoted as saying on the official Barcelona website.

“We’re all after the same thing. We have to stick with this mentality for the next set of matches. We don’t have any doubts.”

The former Sevilla midfielder also added that last week’s 3-1 win over Atletico Madrid was the turning point in the season for the Catalan side.

“You need something like the win over Atletico sometimes. A special game like last week’s win can be a big boost.

“In the last week there has been an all-round improvement. We need to carry on like this and especially make sure we score first. It’s so much easier from then on.

“If we carry on the way we are, then we’ll achieve big things.”
