The wait goes on in Newcastle United’s hunt for a new Head Coach

Its been 18 days now since former Newcastle manager Alan Pardew left the Tyneside club for Selhurst Park and the magpies seem no further to appointing a new Head Coach than they were 2 weeks ago which is sure to be worrying the Geordie faithful.

A host of Foreign and closer to home coaching talents including Steve McClaren, Christophe Galtier ,Thomas Tuchel and Glenn Hoddle have all been linked with acclaimed position but it seems that the former Lyon manager Remi Garde is firm favourite to take the St.James’ hot seat.

Garde has been described as a tactically flexible manager who likes his teams to play a possession based football showing flair and a desire to win the game, every aspect of the beautiful game a Newcastle fan wants to see their team play every week, aspects that were seen very little during Alan Pardew’s 4 year tenure in the North East.

It is the opinion of my own and the vast majority of Newcastle fans that Remi Garde would be the much needed breath of fresh air that Newcastle so desperately need.

However in his pre match press conference, for Newcastle’s Saturday night tie with high flyers Southampton, caretaker boss John Carver said: “We are quite a way down the line in the process, and they are doing it properly and thoroughly, which I agree with.

“But by the time we play Hull, it will be almost a month and I am almost certain that it should be resolved by then.”

It remains to be seen whether Carver, who is thought to be a leading candidate, gets the job.

Though many Newacstle fans may not be overly ecstatic with this possibility the Fenham born Geordie who plied his trade as assistant manager to the late great Sir Bobby Robson, from 1999 to 2004 and then returned to the club to accompany Alan Pardew in 2011, is thought to be highly trusted by controversial owner Mike Ashley and this could be a massive swaying factor when he decides their next Head Coach and in turn the future of the great club.
