Lionel Messi has once again denied speculation he could leave Barcelona by saying he has no intention to quit the La Liga giants.
The four-time Ballon d’Or winner has been in and out of the press in recent weeks after a reported bitter fall out between himself and Barca boss Luis Enrique, whilst links to Chelsea and Manchester City have been maintained in English press.
However, speaking in the press zone at the Ballon d’Or ceremony on Monday night, Messi reiterated his desire to remain at the Catalan club.
“It’s a bit tiresome having to clarify everything I say.
“Often I don’t even come out and deny things or don’t speak to the media because they always change some of my words to create controversy.
“I’m not thinking about leaving,” he said. “Not at all. All I said was that in football you never know what will happen in future.
“Last year at Barcelona was very hard for me personally and professionally and we will try to turn things around this season.”
Messi was then quizzed on his relationship with Enrique and claimed that the two of them were on good terms.
“It’s the same as with any other player in the dressing room – a coach to player relationship,” he said.
