Former Chelsea man backs Bony to bring Man City the title

Salomon Kalou has backed Wilfried Bony to bring the Premier League title to Manchester City as he edges closer to a move to the current champions.

A deal worth £27m has been agreed between City and Swansea City in recent weeks, which will see the Ivorian striker make the move to the Etihad stadium and provide Manuel Pellegrini with more fire power up front.

Former Chelsea man and Ivory Coast team-mate Solomon Kalou has discussed the pending move, claiming that adding Bony to City will see them favourites to lift the Premier League title once more.

He told reporters: “[Bony] will bring strength. I think he’s a very powerful striker and he knows how to score goals. I think he’s going to add a lot of power for the team and a lot of goals.

“Just now he is focused on the Africa Cup of Nations but we are all happy for him and hopefully he will have a good run there and win the league with City.”

Liverpool centre-back Kolo Toure has also discussed Bony’s future and called on the former Sparta Prague striker to fight for his place in the City line-up.

“He’s a great player and knows the Premier League very well,” Toure enthused. “I am sure he is going to do a great job for City because he is very strong, a decent guy and a hard worker. He is perfect for them.

“Yaya [Toure] is there too and will help introduce him to the team very easily. The good thing is he’s staying in the same country so he will not need a period of adaptation. It’s going to be a great move for him.

“This is another step – he needs now to be mentally really strong because there are tough players there and the competition is tough. For him, it’s the next level.

“When you play for City you have a chance to be champions, which is amazing for him. At the same time to have Bony in the side for City I think is a big strength.”
