Rodgers expecting ‘quiet’ transfer window at Liverpool

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has claimed that he is anticipating a “quiet” transfer window.

The Northern Irishman admitted that the club’s summer spending of £120m, means that January will be a quiet month for the Anfield side, but he remained excited ahead of the seasons run in after his side beat Sunderland 1-0 on Saturday.

“It’ll be a quiet one,” Rodgers told BT Sport. “Obviously we brought a lot of players to the club in the summer, and we’ve got some fantastic young players at the club.

“We’d only [make a signing] if we feel we can really improve the team and build on what we’ve already got here.”

Lazar Markovic scored the only goal of the game in the 1-0 win over Sunderland, a victory that ensured Liverpool back-to-back wins and Rodgers has been left pleased with his side.

“I thought we were outstanding,” he told reporters as quoted on Liverpool’s official website. “In the first half, we had real control of the game, good tempo and pressed the ball very well.

“We’ve still got a way to go, but the exciting thing is that in my two years here we’ve always been better in the second part of the season, that’s the business end.

“We’ve still got Sturridge, Sterling, Lallana and Johnson, all these guys, to come back into the squad. It’s going how I hoped it would and hopefully we can continue with this momentum.”
