Real Madrid discuss £30m De Gea bid with representatives

Real Madrid have stepped up their interest in Manchester United keeper David De Gea, according to several reports in Spain and England.

The Spanish giants have toyed with the idea of replacing mainstay number one Iker Casillas in recent seasons, but have failed to find a suitable replacement with both Diego Lopez (now AC Milan) and Keylor Navas, both deemed not good enough.

Boss Carlo Ancelotti has been a keen admirer of David De Gea for sometime and is now edging closer to making a summer bid of £30m to lure the Spaniard back to his native city.

De Gea moved to Man United from Madrid’s cross city rivals Atletico in 2011 and has firmly made himself number one at Old Trafford, producing some sublime displays this seasons which have seen him keep six clean sheets in 20 appearances.

De Gea has 18 months left on his current deal, although United boss Louis Van Gaal believes the keeper will renew in the coming weeks.

That being said, Madrid officials have already made contact with representatives close to the Spanish international and have become buoyed after United signed former Barcelona stopper Victor Valdes last week on a free transfer.
