Spanish radio station Cadena Copa, have reported on Saturday afternoon, that Manchester City have bid a £33m  for Atletico Madrid striker Mario Mandzukic.

The Croatian striker has been in superb form for Atletico Madrid since arriving from Bayern Munich last summer for a fee of £18m, replacing Diego Costa, who joined Chelsea.

The Spanish radio station believe that Fernando Torres’ arrival from AC Milan on a two year loan deal has now made it more likely for Mandzukic to leave and be allowed to join Premier League champions Man City.

City are in need of a new striker after seeing injuries to Sergio Aguero rule him out and the former of Edin Dzeko concern boss Manuel Pellegrini.

Atletico Madrid also have offers on the table for Cristian Rodríguez and Mario Suarez from Premier League clubs, but it seems doubtful that boss Diego Simeone would be willing to sell any of the aforementioned three with the La Liga season moving into a very competitive stage.
