Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart has praised the travelling fans for their part in the Champions League win against Roma on Wednesday.
Victory for City thanks to goals from Samir Nasri and Pablo Zabaleta ensured that the Premier League champions progressed to the knockout stages, despite losing to CSKA Moscow and Bayern Munich in the group stage.
Hart, who produced a sting of top class saves in the visit to Rome, praised both his team-mates and the club’s fans following the victory.
“It’s amazing [to qualify]. It was a great effort from the fans, I thought they were fantastic,” he told Sky Sports.
“It’s a difficult place to come. It’s a long way to come on a Wednesday night and Samir [Nasri]’s made their night with an unbelievable goal.
“Never from us [did City think they were out of contention]. We’re a strong unit. We believe in what we do. We had a slow start but you don’t win the Premier League easily and we’ve done it twice in three years.
“We’ve got resolve, we’ve got character, we’ve got fantastic players. Add that all together and we’ve got a fantastic chance.”
