Super agent Jorge Mendes has approached Chelsea over a potential January move for Monaco midfielder Joao Moutinho.
Moutinho has been in superb form this season for Monaco and played an important part in helping the Ligue 1 side qualify for the knock-out stages of the Champions League on Tuesday evening.
However, the Portuguese midfielder has been strongly linked with a move away from the Stade Louis II after citing a desire to play for one of European football’s bigger clubs.
The likes of Manchester United and Arsenal have been heavily linked, with the latter keen to make a future move.
However, Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has since set his sights on other transfer targets, leaving Moutinho’s agent – Jorge Mendes, with a dilemma heading into the January transfer window.
The well-known and wealthy agent has now approached Chelsea with a package that could see the Portuguese midfielder become one of the biggest earners at Stamford Bridge.
Question marks over Chelsea’s actual desire to sign the midfielder remain with the likes of Oscar and Cesc Fabregas in good form this season.
