Man United & Arsenal on alert: Carvalho set for Premier League

Sporting manager Marco Silva has revealed that Manchester United and Arsenal target William Carvalho could move to the Premier League in January.

The Portuguese midfielder has been no stranger to constant transfer rumours linking him with a move to the Premier League, with both Arsenal and Manchester United showing heavy interest as they seek to improve in the defensive midfield area.

Arsenal had a £21.3m bid rejected in the summer, whilst Sporting have now valued the talented player at £28m, although they are now in a position to drop their asking price.

And, Sporting boss Silva has confirmed that Carvalho could now join a Premier League club in January.

“William is a target for English teams, but I want him to play his game,” he told reporters.

“He’s not playing at the same level as last season because last season he was a surprise, but he’s improving.

“William has many offers. Let’s wait until January.”

The player himself has admitted that a move to the Premier League or La Liga will happen “sooner or later”, with Manchester United also credited with an interest in his services.

Carvalho will be in action as Sporting take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday and it is expected that United and Arsenal will both have representatives at the game.
