Portuguese winger unlikely to make Man United return

Manchester United will not be able to bring back Nani from his season long loan spell with Sporting Lisbon.

The Portuguese winger left United for a return to Sporting Lisbon towards the end of the summer transfer window in a one-year loan deal and he has been highly impressing, scoring seven goals in 14 appearances.

Claims that United boss Louis van Gaal now wants him to return to Old Trafford have been reported in various media outlets, but the chances of such a move happening in January have now hit a stand still.

United chief Ed Woodward failed to include a recall clause in Nani’s move to Sporting and would be forced to pay a heavy compensation package to the Portuguese club.

Sporting have made it clear that they do not want Nani to leave the club in January.
