Inter line up QPR raid

Stephane Mbia

Inter Milan are reportedly lining up a move for Queens Park Rangers midfielder Stephane M’Bia.

Italian source Tutto Mercato Web claims the Serie A outfit have set their sights on the 27-year-old in an attempt to add more strength to a midfield accused of being too lightweight and packed with flair players.

If they fail to land the 27-year-old they are likely to turn their attention to either Napoli’s Valon Behrami or Yann M’Vila, of Rubin Kazan.

M’Bia spent last season on loan at La Liga side Sevilla after falling out of favour at Loftus Road.

He nodded home a dramatic last-gasp goal in the Europa League semi-final, second leg clash with rivals Valencia to secure safe passage to the final, which he described to Mediaset as the happiest moment of his life.

Sevilla lost the game 3-1 but M’Bia’s effort proved pivotal, as it was the coveted away goal which secured a 3-3 aggregate draw.

They went on to beat Portugese giants Benfica on penalties in the competition’s climax, inflicting their opponents’ second consecutive loss in the final of the tournament.

The holding midfielder has only 12 months remaining on his contract at QPR.

Despite the London club’s return to the Premier League via the Championship play-offs, they are thought to be keen to trim their wage bill and could sacrifice M’Bia if Inter meet their valuation.
