Former Barcelona keeper set for Man United deal

Manchester United are close to signing former Barcelona keeper Victor Valdes on a free transfer.

The Spanish international, who saw his contract expire with the Catalan side last season has been recovering from cruciate ligament injury with United, training alongside fellow Spaniard David de Gea.

Valdes was expected to join French side Monaco, but they pulled out due to concerns over his knee injury back in March, whilst Liverpool had also been linked.

However, it is United, who will now make the move to sign the three time Champions League winner.

Valdes will receive a compensation package from Monaco, after agreeing a £150k per week deal with the keeper.
