Language barrier could see Di Maria leave United

Manchester United winger Angel di Maria has admitted that the language barrier continues to cause him problems at the club.

Former Man United midfielder Paul Scholes wrote on his column for newspaper the Independent last month that Di Maria seemed less happier than he did whilst playing for Real Madrid.

He added: “Preparing for the broadcast of the game [Real Madrid v Liverpool, for which Scholes was a television pundit] in Madrid this week, I watched reruns of last season and Angel Di Maria smiling broadly as he celebrated goal after goal with Cristiano Ronaldo.

“He doesn’t seem to be in the same happy mood at United. It feels downbeat among the team.”

The Argentine international’s wife has since confirmed that he is happy with life in Manchester, but the winger himself has discussed the personal problems he has had with life in England.

“I must adapt to my team-mates, because there are still some moments in the game in which I feel I am not fully adapted yet,” the 26-year-old told SPORT magazine.

“The language barrier has also made it a bit harder, but I am trying to overcome that as soon as possible so I can communicate with everyone.”
