Dortmund deny Real Madrid have first option on Reus

Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has rubbished reports that Real Madrid have first refusal on Marco Reus.

The German international has been strongly linked with a move away from the Bundesliga side in recent times, with the likes of Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Paris Saint Germain, Barcelona and Real Madrid all interested.

The latter have been strongly linked with various reports claiming that the Spanish giants have a first-option on the former Borussia Monchengladbach winger.

“It’s complete rubbish that there is any kind of right of first refusal [for Madrid],” Watzke told Bild.

“Marco alone will decide where he will go. What would we do if he activated his clause?”

Madrid have since claimed that they are looking at ‘other’ transfer prospects and will allow the aforementioned to freely battle it out for Reus’ signature.

Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea have been strongly linked with a potential swap deal involving Andre Schurrle tipped.
