Kompany waits on doctor’s Roma decision

Manchester City are set to be without captain Vincent Kompany for their vital Champions League clash with Roma.

Premier League champions City came from behind in their last Champions League outing to beat Bayern Munich 3-2 and put themselves back in contention to qualify for the knock-out stages of the competition.

A win against Serie A side Roma in Italy next week will now see them progress, however, they could be without inspirational captain Kompany, who is waiting for a decision from club doctors on his fitness and availability.

“Vincent Kompany is not able to play against Sunderland or against Everton, that’s sure,” Pellegrini said. “We’ll see if he arrives against Roma, but that will depend on the opinion of the doctor.

“It’s very difficult, because I cannot say without the opinion of the doctor how his injury will improve in the next days. It depends what degree of muscle injury he has.

“It’s very difficult to know in this moment if he can play in Rome.”
