Dante has blamed Bayern Munich’s defending in their 3-2 Champions League defeat against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday.
The German champions were 2-1 ahead at one stage during the Champions League group game, but Sergio Aguero scored a superb hat-trick to give the English champions the win and possibly send them through with Bayern to the knock-out stages.
However, despite Aguero’s performance, defender Dante believes Bayern gifted City the win.
“Aguero is a great player but I think the defeat was not because of what City did, it was just two mistakes from us,” he told Uefa.com.
“These things happen in football. Aguero is a high-quality player and when he gets a chance normally he scores a goal.
“We respect City – they are a great team and, even if we had already qualified in first place, we came here to play and respect the fans.
“Even with 10 men we played well. It was a good performance.”
