Juventus jump ahead of Arsenal in Schar race

Juventus have prioritised the signing of Basel defender Fabian Schar, jumping ahead of Arsenal, according to Tuttosport.

The 22-year-old has been linked with a move away from Basel in recent summer’s but failed to see a move develop, although his recent comments to Swiss media claim that he would be open for a switch to Italy or England.

“My dream remains to have an experience abroad. I’ve always said that if the opportunity presented itself, I would take it, obviously in agreement with Basel.

“I need a team with important prospects. I’d like the Bundesliga, Premier League or top Italian clubs like Inter, Milan and Juventus. I couldn’t say no.”

And, it is being reported that Serie A champions Juventus are ready to make that dream happen by forcing a January move for Schar, beating Arsenal in the process, who have been heavily linked with a move.

Both Juve and the Gunners are struggling defensively with injuries and poor form and have identified Schar as the perfect option this winter.

The defender is thought to be valued at around £9.5m.
