Arsenal and Man United battle for £12m Scottish defender

Arsenal and Manchester United are eyeing a move for Hull City left-back Andy Robertson.

The former Dundee United full-back only joined the Tigers in the summer but is performing at a consistently high level for the Premier League side and his country at international level.

Robertson cost Hull £2.85m in the summer but reports across various English media, most notably in the Daily Express, claim that he would be keen on leaving for a bigger club in the January transfer window.

Manager Steve Bruce commented earlier this week in the Sunday People about the former of Robertson and that it would be hard if either of Arsenal of Man United made their interest serious to keep hold of the defender.

“There has already been one or two with phone calls asking ‘to keep me informed’. That’s always the first stage.

“I had it with Palacios when I was at Wigan and then Valencia when he went off to Man Utd. And if this kid keeps performing the way he is then it might become inevitable.

“I spoke to Gordon about him in the summer. He threw him in against Nigeria for his first cap. He took to it like a duck to water, and he has done exactly the same when offered the challenge with us.”
