Arsenal and Liverpool will go head-to-head in January as they battle for Chelsea keeper Petr Cech.

The Czech Republic international is known to be disgruntled at sitting on the bench behind Thibaut Courtois, who has established himself as Jose Mourinho’s number one after three successful season loans to Atletico Madrid.

And, it is now understood that both Arsenal and Liverpool are growing keen on making a January move.

The former seem less likely to make a move as they completed the signing of David Ospina in the summer to provide back-up to Wojciech Szczesny, but reports of Liverpool’s interest is more serious.

Anfield boss Brendan Rodgers is increasingly concerned by Simon Mignolet’s performances and sees a cut price deal for Cech as good winter business.

Liverpool lost out in the race to sign Victor Valdes recently after he began training with Manchester United and looks likely to complete a free transfer to Old Trafford.
